Garlic Festival Returning To Warrensburg - Oct. 7

WARRENSBURG | The 13th Annual Garlic Festival at the Warrensburgh Riverfront Farmers' Market will return this October with a wide range of activities and offerings and in memory of the local farmer who inspired the tradition.

The locally cherished festival will be held from 3-6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7 at the Riverfront Farmers’ Market across from Curtis Lumber on River Street.

This year’s festival will be dedicated to Elizabeth Rugen, owner of Hope Valley Farm with her husband Richard, who was the driving inspiration behind the inaugural celebration.

Many varieties of certified organic and naturally grown garlic will be sold for planting and consumption, including caramelized onion and roasted garlic jams, garlic fudge and concentrated black garlic from Adirondack Harvest (formerly Caldwell Country Farm).

Grá den Talún Farm will also offer unusual varieties of garlic alongside Hope Valley Farm’s Pickled Garlic Scapes and Garlic Pesto and Hilton Family Farm Stand’s famous Chuck’s Garlic Dill Pickles.

There will also be horticultural information and recipes provided by CCE of Warren County, as well as free sampler plates, a Garlicky Food Contest and a wide range of specialty and craft vendors.

A free garlic and Halloween-themed Children’s Seasonal Craft Workshop will also be offered courtesy of Richards Library Director Shelby Burkhardt along with live music in the gazebo by George Parrott.

There will also be a HHHN tote bag giveaway and free cups of locally roasted coffee.
